Getting Rid of a Double Chin

There was a time when surgery was the only option for getting rid of a double chin, but there are now effective non-surgical options such as Kybella available. Kybella is a non-invasive procedure with very little downtime, but how exactly does it work.

Kybella
Kybella is a cosmetic injectable that is specially designed for the treatment of submental fat, (fat below the chin). It is the only injectable treatment that has been FDA approved for contouring the double chin. Kybella is indicated for use in adults 18 years of age and older (read more).

How Kybella gets rid of your double chin
The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid, which is a substance that is naturally produced by the body, and is responsible for the breakdown of fat cells.

Kybella is injected into the subcutaneous fat below the chin, and disrupts the cell membranes sothe cells eventually die. The fat removed by Kybella is gone for good, so the results are permanent. It can take anywhere from 3-6 treatments to achieve the best results.

Kybella is a proven treatment for fat below the chin, but it should only be administered by an approved injector such as a board certified plastic surgeon, or dermatologist.

Are you a good candidate?
If you have moderate to severe submental fat, you may be a good candidate for Kybella injectable treatment. However, it’s advisable to visit your doctor for a detailed physical examination in order to assess your suitability.
