Is a lip augmentation permanent?

If you think your lips are too thin, lip augmentation is the ideal way to restore volume and plumpness.  Whether you have naturally thin lips or you’ve simply experienced volume loss over time, lip augmentation can make the lips fuller and fresher once again.  But is lip augmentation permanent.

What is lip augmentation?

Lip augmentation is a procedure that is done to increase the fullness of the lips.  Dermal fillers have traditionally been used to add volume and plumpness to the lips, but implants are becoming an increasingly popular alternative.  Both options can make the lips fuller and plumper, so it really depends on the results desired.

Is lip augmentation permanent?

Lip augmentation with fillers provides temporary results, because fillers last an average of 6 months.  Consequently, in order to maintain the desired lip enhancement with fillers, the procedure has to be repeated every few months, but implants are long lasting.

Permanent Lip augmentation with implants

PermaLip is a more permanent alternative to temporary lip fillers.  It is a soft, smooth silicone implant that is specifically designed for lip augmentation.  PermaLip is available in a range of sizes, and can be contoured to fit the natural shape of the  lips (click here to learn more).

The PermaLip procedure takes about 30 minutes to perform, and is done under local anesthetic.  The implant is inserted in the lip through tiny incisions made in the inner corners of the mouth.

What to expect after PermaLip

The lips will be slightly swollen and tender after PermaLip, and recovery can take 5-7 days.
