Would you like thicker, fuller brows without having to use brow pencils? Microblading may be the answer for you. Microblading stimulates the appearance of natural hair and leaves the brows looking naturally full. But if you’re thinking of getting microblading, one important question you need answered is – Is microblading permanent.
What is microblading
Microblading is a cosmetic tattoo procedure that is done to fill in thinning or sparse eyebrows. This involves implanting tattoo pigment into the lowest level of the epidermis, which is the superficial layer of the skin. Microblading is a safe procedure that uses high grade pigments that are specially formulated for use on the face.
Is microblading permanent?
Microblading uses semi-permanent tattoo pigment that is implanted into the skin, so it does not wash away. However, the cells of the epidermis divide continuously, so the pigment will be broken down and fade away over time, but traces may remain. The rate at which the pigment breaks down will depend on several factors including the patient’s skin type, skin care regimen, and the pigment color.
The results of microblading can last anywhere from 1-3 years, so a touch-up of the treatment will be required at that time.
How microblading works
Topical anesthetic is applied at the start of treatment to reduce any discomfort. The physician will then outline the brows to create the desired shape, and a special hand-tool is used to deposit the tattoo pigment in the epidermal layer of the skin.
Treatment takes about 1 hour to complete.
